Oscars: Worst Dressed

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

I love her, but Melissa McCarthy could have chose a more fitting attire for this occasion. The color of this frock did not fit well with her skin tone and the shape of the dress was non-existent. She would have looked incredible in a ball gown, maybe even something without sleeves.

As much as I love pink, Fan Bingbing did not impress with this explosion of fuchsia. The fabric could have been something 100 times lighter such as chiffon. The pleating/layering/I am not really sure what to call it is in no way flattering and I cannot figure out where her body is. Also, the bodice makes the dress seem as though it does not fit her and is about to fall of.

Jennifer Garner chose such a gorgeous color and definitely one which is trending this season, but she could have done without the tail. This dress is so simply elegant in the front, but the feathers draping out of her backside resemble a large tail which is, in no way, flattering. I would have loved this dearly if it did not make her look like a bird.

Nicole Kidman must have been heading off to fight a battle in this armor-esque gown. The fit is fabulous and I absolutely love the way the skirt narrows at her knees. But, I have a serious problem with the colors and sequins on this thing. The brown, black, gold and orange colors clearly do not mix well together. Pair them with the sequins and swirly design at the bottom and this dress is instantly downgraded.

Rachel Mwanza is such a cutie pie, but she could have toned it down a bit this year. The 80s prom dress never flattered anyone and it sure does not look any better with a million colors thrown on it. Also, her shoes were a little too obvious, a nice gold shoe or something more subtle would have turned this ensemble down at least one notch.

Oscars: Best Dressed

Last night was definitely one to remember complete with songs about boobs, trippin’ award winners, and dancing Harry Potter. To add to the unforgettable events, the stars were draped in unforgettable gowns and tuxes. From Dior to Miu Miu, the red carpets dazzled.

A ton of websites placed Amanda Seyfried’s Alexander McQueen gown in the ‘worst dressed’ category, but I absolutely loved her dress. It fits her so nicely and the colors are fantastic. The design add an element of class and elegance to a simple gown.

Kristin Stewart followed the light-colored and lace trend in her Reem Acra strapless gown. Initially, I think I would be a little skeptical of all the details and aspects of this dress but seeing it on her, I am in love with it.

Jennifer Aniston wore my favorite, favorite, favorite dress this year. The red looked especially gorgeous on the black stage and the fit would flatter just about anyone. I am speechless. GORGEOUS.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior gown has such a flattering and unique shape. The mermaid fit accentuates her curves tremendously while the ball gown skirt adds a gorgeous princess feel. If only she had hemmed it…

Octavia Spencer really knows how do dress herself-or at least her stylist does. There is nothing I love more than someone who knows what their body type would look best in. I hate when people try to wear the wrong thing because they think it looks nice on the mannequin. Spencer looked absolutely stunning last night. Her off the shoulder neck line flattered her bust and arms while the hourglass shape and ball gown skirt showed off her curves, slimming her down extremely.

Grammy Awards: Best and Worst Dressed

Who watched the Grammy Awards last night? I did! And I must say my favorite part was Taylor Swift mocking Harry Styles as she recited *in a british accent* “I still love you” in her performance of ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’. You go girl! But, I am not here to talk about Taylor’s witty demeanor; I want to talk about clothes!

I am going to begin with best dressed.

My absolute favorite of favorites last night was Rihanna in the never ending red gown which would probably make the most tragic looking figure look like Rihanna’s.

Of course I am going to mention Taylor Swift because, well, she is always best dressed for pretty much everything. My favorite part of each of her looks is her eyes. Her eyes glisten so beautifully and her makeup always accentuates her eyes perfectly. White is definitely her color. She wears it often and I do not blame her-she looks amazing it it, regardless of her pale skin tone. I love what she did with her hair; the bohemian braid adds such a greek goddess feel to her look which might not be the case without the braid. The silver embellishments dress up the garment, giving it a bit more umph.

Now the men…

Justin Timberlake would have looked ravishing in a robe, but thank god he decided to dress up. His jacket is so unique and paired with those shoes-perfection. Their out-of-the-ordinary textures and patterns compliment each other so well and are nicely balanced out with his classic tuxedo pants.

Chris Brown looked dashing in his all white ensemble. Brown’s suit was so well fitted and although I would have originally advised against it, the all-white look is actually incredible. This look is so difficult to pull of and he did it 100%.

DUM DUM DUMMMM….. WORST dressed!

I apologize, dearly but there were two atrocious outfits on the red carpet last night. First was Kate Pierson in an all-purple leather and what looks like a very light cotton fabric. The dress is definitely too tight and too long. Also, paired with black tights and black, pointed strap-y heels, her feet look a bit like old lady feet.

slide_279927_2087118_free

Florence Welch was looking a bit like a dinosaur last night. She has such a gorgeous figure and this dress makes her look a bit too wide shouldered, as it does not accentuate her waist and flattens her bust. Her über-tight gown could do without the studs, which are placed in areas that are totally unflattering. It looks as though someone randomly threw studs on a dress because they are trending and, therefore, if they are on the dress, the dress will be cool-this is not the case. The matching shoes are a little too much, especially as a sandal. I would have to say, the only good thing about this dress is the slit because it gives us a break from looking at this green monstrosity of a dress.

Thanks so much for reading! Let me know what your favorites and least favorites were!
